                                                              WHO I AM

ptuk.PNG

I have over twenty years experiences of working with children and adolescents in many settings, including hospitals, surgeries, community centres and schools. Working in different roles and settings has helped me to extend my knowledge and experiences in working with children and adolescents therapeutically. My initial training in nursing has built my interest in psychotherapy and psychiatry. After undertaking my study in counselling  and reading Virginia Axline’s book called ‘Dibs: In Search of Self’, I was inspired to take a path into play therapy and creative arts. I believe, play therapy is a bridge into a child's inner world for a therapist and a non-threatening way for a child to express his/her own negative life experiences and to create coping mechanisms to deal with his/her adverse life circumstances.

I am a member of Play Therapy United Kingdom (PTUK) which is accredited by the Professionals Standard Authority

I adopt PTUK and BACP code of Ethics and have regular clinical supervision to ensure that I am working with children safely. I also continue with my professional development by undertaking further trainings.
